What we collect
- Account data: your email address, username, and anything you choose to add such as display name, bio and avatar.
- Content: threads, replies, votes, bookmarks and private messages you send.
- Technical data: a hashed form of your IP address and a browser fingerprint, used only to limit spam and abuse. We do not store your raw IP address in the forum database.
- Sign in provider data: if you use Google sign in, we receive your email address and basic profile information.
Why we use it
To run your account, show your posts, deliver notifications and private messages, calculate reputation and badges, prevent spam and abuse, and keep the site secure.
What is public
Your username, display name, avatar, bio, reputation, badges, threads and replies are public and can be read by anyone and indexed by search engines. Your email address is never shown publicly. Private messages are visible only to you and the person you are writing to, and to no one else through the application.
Online status
By default your name appears in the live "Online now" list. You can turn this off in Settings, and you will then be counted anonymously.
Cookies and local storage
We store a session token in your browser so you stay signed in, plus small preferences such as theme and language. We do not run third party advertising trackers.
Service providers
The site runs on Supabase, which stores the database, authentication and files. Email delivery for sign in and notifications is handled by our email provider. These providers process data only to operate the service.
Retention
Account and content data is kept while your account exists. Abuse related technical records are kept for a limited period. Because a forum is a shared record, posts may remain after an account is closed, with the account details removed on request.
Your choices
- Edit or remove your profile details at any time in Settings.
- Turn off your online visibility.
- Request account deletion or data export by messaging an admin.
Children
Forum BD is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that such an account exists, we will remove it.
Security
Access to data is enforced at the database level with row level security, private messages are locked after sending, and administrative actions are restricted to a small set of accounts. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and enable two factor authentication in Settings.
Changes
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be announced on the forum.
